The House
Over three hundred years old, solid stone, tall and narrow, in the heart of one of the most beautiful and best preserved fortified towns in southern France, and protected under national heritage legislation, this village house has been restored to provide modern amenities. The house is centrally heated and has a mains pressure hot water system. It has been comfortably furnished and is fully supplied with linen. After all, it is our holiday home and must provide walk-in comfort for us. There is a CD-cassette mini-system, a colour television (local channels) and a telephone that will receive calls and from which you can make local calls. You can make long distance and international calls by using your home telephone company's card, and dialling its toll-free international or 'home direct' access number.
	The house can accommodate seven adults. At ground level, above the cellars, there is a kitchen, a wash room and a living-dining room (see left). There is an extension dining table in the living room and a breakfast table in the kitchen. The kitchen is fully equipped, including a microwave, and the wash room has a washing machine and a separate WC with basin. On the 2nd level there is a large bedroom, with a double bed, an adjoining sitting room and a shower-room with WC.
On the 3rd level there is another large bedroom (see right) with twin beds, an adjoining sitting room and, again, a shower room with WC. Both shower-rooms are directly accessible from the stairwell and so can be used privately by persons from any floor. On the 4th level, is a single bedroom (with hot and cold water), and a double bedroom which opens onto a covered terrace. The terrace is a great spot for coffe or quite read. Steep and narrow stone stairs lead up to a galetas, soliaïré or séchoir. This is another covered terrace with one wall open to the southern sun, used in times past to dry farm produce for storage during winter. Now it serves as a sheltered outdoor living space with splendid views down the valley of the Var - ideal for breakfast or for drinks before the evening meal. There is a small bar refrigerator to keep drinks cool.  The English manager of Maison Charvin lives 3km south of the village and can be readily contacted by phone if needed.
